Designed for people who want increase their knowledge about avalanche safety, this intensive three-day course builds on the Introduction to Avalanche Safety and teaches practical hazard management skills. Full-day tours are supplemented by morning and evening lectures. Strong intermediate skiing or riding skills are a must, as the course is primarily in a backcountry setting. Combined with the introductory course, this course covers the Canadian Avalanche Association AST Level 2 curriculum.
Prerequisite: You must either have taken the AST 1 course or have equivalent skills and experience. However, you will need to have the AST 1 to get a level 2 certificate.
