If you are planning on doing a lot of backcountry powder skiing and riding this winter, take this intensive course to cover every relevant aspect of avalanche safety. Full-day ski tours allow you to develop practical hazard evaluation, route-finding and safe travel skills, while morning and evening lectures, plus weather and snow pit observations, round out the course. Visit three distinct climate areas in the Rockies and interior mountains to experience a wide rang of snow packs. Strong intermediate skiing or riding skills are a must, as the tours include challenging terrain. This course exceeds the Canadian Avalanche Association guidelines for an AST Level 2 course.
Prerequisite: Strong intermediate skiing or riding skills are a must, as the course is primarily in a backcountry setting.
