Hiking Spring / Summer 2011

Discover hiking in our nearby foothills and Rocky Mountains! These programs are a great way to meet other hikers, while exploring different regions of Kananaskis and Banff. Learn about travel skills, pacing, temperature regulation, group safety, map reading, wildflower and animal identification, plus much more!

Intro to Day Hiking

Lecture: Prepare for Day Hiking
Experience the Rocky Mountains this summer! Get started on the right foot by learning about clothing for hiking, footwear selection, blister prevention, daypack essentials, bears, ticks and suggestions on great places to go hiking.

Introductory Series

This introductory course includes the Preparation for Day Hiking lecture and three progressive outings that start with easy on-trail hiking and lead to hikes with more distance, elevation and off-trail travel. This series is ideal for people who are new to hiking. Includes: 1 lecture and 3 full day hike .
