Climbing

In 1986, the Outdoor Centre opened the first public, sport climbing facility in the city of Calgary. The indoor climbing facility has both a Climbing Wall and a Bouldering Wall located in the Outdoor Centre. Both climbing structures are open to students, staff, faculty, alumni and the general public.

	The "As Cheap As You Can Get" Special for UC Students...is over for the Spring 2010 Semester and will start in the Fall 2010 Semester $25 includes 1.5 hrs of personal instruction by one of our climbing course instructors (value $36) free use of gear (value $9) belay test (value $5) free rental voucher (value $9) This will ensure you pass your belay test and get started! Of course students are welcome to the climbing wall any time of year and there is no charge once you complete your belay test! 	Climbing Wall The 40-foot indoor climbing wall at the Outdoor Centre still remains the first and only of its kind in Calgary due to its unique features, which include molded concrete panels embedded with real quartzite that are set at different angles with overhangs. The wall simulates outdoor climbing and is designed for leading on gear, anchor building, rappelling, rock rescue and crevasse rescue.
